The Other Half

This past weekend Amanda and I had the chance to find out how the other half live for the night. Thanks to the wonderful help of Alison and James who took care of Chloe for the night, Amanda and I celebrated our five year anniversary and the birth of our child at a dinner at the Melting Pot and a nights stay at The Umstead, a new five star resort in spa in Cary. Needless to say, we were spoiled!! Thanks again to Alison, Casey and Brent for helping to set this up.

We enjoyed a nice Patio Suite and all of its finery, from curtains that truly blocked out all light, one of the most comfortable bed we have slept in, a bathroom with a shower and tub that if we could have taken them with us, we would have added them onto our house, to the valet who had our car ready, cooled and waiting for us when we left...with two VOSS waters to go. We were spoiled by the room and the staff who knew our names for our whole stay.

Now in my travels, I am used to having some sort of magazine in my room, whether it is some local bit, a magazine about other historical hotels in the area or something random...but never have I had a chance to peruse The Robb Report now that is a magazine! Now cheesy ads about insurance or another Ford vehicle, no this was articles about what is the better private jet to have, ads for Maybach luxury cars and watch/timepiece brands that you have to be invited to buy!

Needless to say, Amanda and I enjoyed ourselves and left relaxed and quite ready to see Chloe (who did great with her Auntie Alison and Uncle James). We awoke in the morning, got in our waiting car and had a fancy breakfast at McDonald's. It was the perfect way to finish our night out!
