Going to the Library

I have been in a slight rut with my reading lately, I have either read something really serious, or just really boring, or just plain stupefying "Under the Banner of Heaven" so I have been reading my Car&Driver and National Geographic and contemplating what to read next. Amanda and I enjoy going to the library and the library then enjoys charging us fines for our overdue books. We have since found out that the most they will charge you is $10! If we come across a book that we really want we then buy it, say for instance my obession with John Updike! So I have finally decided to let my brain enjoy a blast from the past. I am off in search of two of my all time favorite series Tom Swift and the Hardy Boys!

I can remember spending days doing nothing but reading of the great adventures that these fictional characters had. For the longest time I truly thought that the assassins, the bad terrorist group in the Hardy Boys, was an actual bad terrorist group. One day I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if Tom Swift and the Hardy Boys could join forces against all evil in the world, well Victor Appleton and Franklin W. Dixon(Dixon's nameskae) must have thought of just that. The next time I went to the book store what did I find but a Tom Swift & Hardy Boys adventure!!

Oh the joy of it! I bought it and immediately went home and read the whole book!! So needless to say I am very much looking forward to going to the library with my wife this weekend! And now that I have totally shown my dorkdom, I will leave you with this last great look at the Hardy Boys Casefiles mashup, enjoy!

Am I the only one who has ever wondered why Frank and Joe Hardy never aged? Despite having many adventures spanning hundreds of books, Frank always remains 18 and Joe is 17. Are these guys ever going to graduate high school???

I also love the way that every book started out the exact same way, who they were, who Joe's girl was, how Frank's girl was killed in an accident, yadda yadda yadda...

Yeah, and they always seemed to mention the way they looked...Frank with dark hair and dark eyes, just over 6 feet tall...Joe is blonde with blue eyes and an inch shorter, but with broader shoulders. Crazy stuff...

1. I'm not sure i've ever read a hardy boys book

2. your dog is named after an author? i can't decide if i want to joke on that, or respect it. after all, our jeep is named after a book character and my website is named after my favorite book...

WE'RE LITERARY
