What the world needs now...

One of the perks of my job is to go hear lots of different music, some good, some not so good(sorry Chris and Mel). Last night I had invited my friend Billy to go hear a concert with me. Amanda was at a shower for girls and I hate going to these things alone, besides the fact that I learned more about schmoozing in one night from Billy than the last two years at work, we had a good time. Mr Burt Bacharach came into town to play with our fair symphony and it was surprising to find out how much Burt has written in his 77 years of life, yes 77 years of life. And while I was marveling at this feat, he has written over 500 songs garnered a few grammys plus a few oscars worked with the likes of Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainright, Dr. Dre, Dionne Warwick, and just about everyone you can think of. As he was up on stage playing his songs, doing random hand movements acting like he was "conducting" the orchestra I noticed one thing. Burt looks exactly like William Hickey, the crazy old guy with the toupee from Christmas Vacation!

See!! It also surprised me to learn that Burt has two children under the age of 13, 9 and 12 to be exact. Besides the rude people we had to sit in front of (we had great seats, the people behind us didn't appreciate a couple of tall guys sitting in front of them, we slouched for the whole show, but 90 min. is a long time to slouch, friend Billy sat up to stretch his back, crazy person behind him leaned over to tap him on his back and tell him to slouch back in his seat, not good crazy person, not good decorum at all) we did have a good time. Oh the fun symphony world we live in. -Jared
