The Joy of Living with Jared

Last night around 10 when driving home from a symphony event, I remarked to Jared that I thought the 4Runner may need new brakes. He agreed, as we are seriously overdue on some maintenance on it. I reminded him that he would probably have to take it somewhere to have it looked at/serviced due to my long and early commute (he would therefore have to surrender Oscar, the Versa, to me for a day:) ) unless we took it somewhere on the weekend. The following conversation ensued...

Amanda: "Where should we take it?"

Jared: "I don't know. There's that AAA place in Cary, or I could take it to the Exxon near work."
Amanda: "OK"

Jared: "Or, there's that Just Tires place right down the street"

Amanda: "Where?"

Jared: "Just Tires (slowly fades off)"

Exactly, love. With a name like Just Tires, I seriously doubt they could fix our brake problems.

Fast forward to tonight. Tonight was one of our rare trips to the grocery store together, and we were both tired and ready to go home. As always, we fight over who gets to push the cart, and therefore be in control. Jared started out with the cart pushing, until he got distracted by something on the shelves, and let go. I then took over, and calmly told him that I was going to push. He pouted a little, and then this conversation took place:

Jared: "I wanted to push."

Amanda: "If you give me a kiss, then you can push."

Jared: "Whatever, you can push."

Amanda:"....................." (picture me with a wide open mouth, staring at him in disbelief until he realized what he had just said, and what he had not "heard" me say, and at that point he chased me down the aisle trying to kiss me).

This is the essence of Jared, and why I love my life with him.

Have a great day!
