Placing my bets early...

Yes, much to Jared's dismay, American Idol season is back. That means that three nights a week, I have either something to watch or to DVR for later (which, by the way, is the best thing ever invented for cable television...we got hooked on the try it for three months for free deal, and we will never ever part ways with it.) Last night was the girls first performance, and my bets are on either Paris, the young 16 year old who performed as if she had been performing for years, or Katherine, the girl who sang last and, who was although a little goofy, has a killer voice. My dad agrees with my picks, and he is an idol fanatic, so I must have picked some good ones. We will be forgoing the second hour of Idol tonight in order to watch UNC beat up on NC State. Basketball, as always, wins out over all other regularly scheduled programming.

On a more serious note, I had an epiphany today at work and Jared and I had a long discussion over it tonight at dinner (spaghetti). We had someone at work who was very unhappy with their entire situation and experience as a customer. They complained to all the right people and now every time they come in we have to jump through hoops to make them happy. That being said, their experience there, while not justified, was nothing out of the ordinary. No one was mean or rude, the service from myself and my co-workers was exemplary, and they had as long of a wait as all of the others there on the same day. So, now when they visit, everything has to be dropped and all attention on them so that they wont complain again. However, arent we just making all those in front of and behind them have a poor experience, leading them to complain and the situation repeated. It seems to be a vicious cycle. And, as Jared said tonight, welcome to the world of non-profit.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week! And if you read the previous post from Jared, now you know how much fun it is to be married to that man. He cracks me up! :) Amanda

Correction little bro: Welcome to the world we live in, non or for profit does not matter. Nobody likes confrontation and if they have health insurance they are always welcome!

True true, the healt field is a lot different, doctors worrying about being sued for malpractice etc... but at some point in time organizations/corporations do and will take a stand for themselves if they are in the right. In Amanda's experience this paticular lady will at some point in time push to far and her gravy train will collapse. From the customer/patron/donor servies stand point you must or you have a potential crisis on your hands, if one person does it, than 56 others will also. Oh the stories I can tell. But I do agree with you, nobody wants to deal with the confrontation and therefore will give them whatever they want to just get them out of there face. Welcome to the consumer enviroment.
-Jared sorry for the essay.
